Stem Cell update from France; Baby Steps: The last time I was here, it was very hard to go to the store, to go looking around, to go buy bread. After a few minutes, it was so difficult to stand on my legs-they would start shaking and the weakness would hit. To put it in a word: it was crappy. Actually I can think of other words. Now this morning, I got up early, had coffee and a croissant and we took off. I did a lot of walking. I never had the shaking or the weakness. My legs were super strong. OK, the walking is still not perfect, but I did not use my cane. Today I feel very hopeful. Let’s see what happens next!

The coolest update: The new Stem Cells have begun their work! My voice is stronger, I was surprised last night when I was singing Chanukah songs…I said…”Something is different here” and I immediately called someone who really knows and works in the music business. I called Alice Phillips Bishop
and she said “Yup”, I can hear it in your voice!

The brand new Stem Cells and me are back home in the great state of Texas! I found myself digging in today. I will hit the ground running tomorrow, but I really needed a reprieve after all the traveling yesterday. I look forward to sharing all the changes that I know are surely coming, even if they are subtle!

I have just completed my Adult Stem Treatment, #3. I received my last IV of my own stem cells derived from my abdominal fat. My site of mini lipo is still quite sore and painful, but the Doctors assure me this is normal after only 9 days post surgery. I am concerned about wearing this girdle thing on the airplane, including a plane change. I will certainly handle it fine, but it will probably uncomfortable. My driver will be here at 7:15am, and so I am going to go and finish my packing, have a bite and go on to sleep…not too late tonight!

Last night, I joined 10 other fellow stem cell patients for dinner and it was wonderful!! We managed to get home before 11pm, and since we all treatment today, it was a good thing!

Now the Stem Cells are in me. I will certainly keep you posted on all the changes that I know are coming!

This video features scenes from my condo!  Now you can really get the flavor of where I am staying.  I never captured it very well.  Holly Huber recorded and then edited this video.  My hat is off to her!

Good Morning 🙂 I have just returned from the Stem Cell Institute where I received my second batch of stem cells. I am doing well, just a little light headed but I seem to recall this reaction in the past, which is a good sign. I am talking about the first trip, which was much more successful than the second time. This is good, right? Tonight, a group of about 10 of us will be having dinner out on the causeway. we are all patients and family and friends of patients. it should be fun! Anyone who wants to join in, just get here by 6! See ya’

The first batch of Stem Cells are iny me! I will have 2 more IVs and then I will have millions and millions of those little guys/gals in me….well they must be gals since I am a gal. Looks like I wasnt wearing the darn girdle tight enough. When Dr Hernandez and Dr Bowen said “It takes 4 hands to put this on correctly, but you are alone in your condo…oh no”…I said..”Should I ask the doorman?”.

Let me tell you about my morning. So, if you read my little update yesterday, you know that I was at the clinic yesterday and they gave me a real powerful pill called Arcoxia for pain and inflammation. I took one last night and really, I wanted to stay in bed this morning. But I was being picked up at 8:30 for physical therapy, and so I had to get going!!!
So I go into PT, and I have 2 PTs…Paola and Joseline…who are amazing…very good PTs but also incredibly fun and good people. They said to me “Judi, something is different…what is going on?” I said “I took an ARCOXIA this morning and I feel wierd”. They laughed and said…what did you eat with it? and I said…a protein bar. Then they really laughed and said that when I left there I needed to eat a really big breakfast.

I am staying in the Vista Del Mar Condos…very beautiful. They are part of Le Meridien Hotel…very beautiful. So I decide to eat my very first restaurant meal this morning…dressed in work out clothes, and I go into Le Meridien for breakfast. How sophisticated was that? You should have seen the hotel…super classy. As I am eating my $8.00 omelette and drinking my $3.00 coffee, I am wishing my family could see this “joint”. This is what I took away from there as to design. White high backed chairs, white tablecloths, lots of crystal and silver on the table, black marble walls, filmy white curtains, high ceilings, lots of tiny lights, what an atmosphere. Add the ocean in just outside the windows…fab!!!

So now I am back in my nest. I need sunglasses in my condo. If you dont like bright, never stay here! I have the rest of the day and i will relax. My PT is done and tomorrow starts the receiving of the stem cells.

After the lipo, we get this girdle thing that we have to wear all the time. Well mine was humongous and so I just ditched it after 1 day. Well guess what? The pain and the swelling got so bad that I had to go to the clinic this afternoon. Dr. Hernandez and Dr. bowen are so funny. They cut my girdle to make it fit and then they did some stuff to keep it from unraveling. Like a bunch of seamstresses. I love those guys! I feel better!!!!
